The Joys of Gardening
In June last year I heard a knock on my front door at 8 am. I was still getting
dressed but I quickly ran down the stairs and opened the door.
There stood a red-faced policeman with an apologetic look on his face and he said "I'm sorry
sir but I've just parked my car in your greenhouse."
I couldn't believe it - he had parked his police car on a slope - left his car and it rolled down the hill,
through my fence and into my greenhouse.

Luckily the car got wedged before it could crash into my tomato and melon plants but I had to
put a temporary cover over them until I could get another greenhouse erected.
I asked him why he hadn't engaged his hand-brake and he said he had done so and had also left his
car in gear!!!
If you believe that you will believe in fairies!
The green British telecom phone junction which was smashed up in the crash cost
£000's to repair.

Here is a picture of my new greenhouse - courtesy of the insurance company. It is an Elite 8' x 6',
the same size as the one that was demolished by the police.
What worries me is that only two years ago a girl did exactly the same - parked on the hill and her
car ran down into my fence. Luckily it hit my car which was inside the fence and my greenhouse
wasn't touched. Another job for the insurance company. I didn't have to pay anything as
it wasn't my fault in either case. Photo below - the young lady looking at the car at the left-back of the photo is the driver !!! She was probably thinking "I'm sure I didn't park my car here"
